Recipes!

Hello! I've been browsing new recipes/old cookbooks and have marked (in my mind) a few I want to try.  I thought I'd share them with you while also keeping myself accountable to try them sooner than later.

Peanut Butter and Banana Quesadillas
Turkey Black Bean Chili (I make this a lot) but with Jalapeno Cheddar Corn Muffins
Poor Man's Feast (From Great Depression Cooking)
Cold Oats
Better Fried Eggs
Missouri Dirt Cake
and... I'm always in the mood to try a new cookie...
I'll keep you all posted.  :)

Thanks for reading!

  1. We love to try new recipes. Sometimes you find you one that life life changing. I discovered a new way to make eggs. We call them Ramsey eggs because it's Gordon Ramsay's way to make them. I found it on YouTube. Now all other eggs are subpar.

And the slow cooker helps us eat healthier and cheaper. We eat lots of dishes with veggies and beans and meat tossed in. It can last a few days too. We live in florida and it's soo hot because the shared kitchen we use does not have air. Its not fun to cook in there for too long.

I do like to follow your story. I like stories of people just making it through life, without trying to be glamorous or copying someone else. We traveled to florida in June by a sailboat from Kentucky, and it was not glamorous. It was hard work , scary, and exhausting. There are real struggles in life but you truly haven't lived until you move those outside your comfort zone. That's why I like reading your blog. It's real.

    1. Hey, Megan! Congratulations on your journey to Florida via sailboat... that's amazing! I have looked at your blog- are you going to share some of your experiences sailing? I would be interested. I understand what an expansive and tremendous thing is from a Kentuckian! I applaud your bravery and courage. I know that life is short, and sometimes people can't accept that their life is not yours.
I did meet a very cool woman in Seattle living in the Ballard neighborhood that lived with her boyfriend in a houseboat. I thought it was very interesting to hear her talk about it. Storing food, waking up to fishermen, the locks, etc.,
I'm touched that you read my blog- I write very randomly and without any clear message or reason, but I figure even if one person stumbles upon it and feels less alone... that's beautiful. I youtubed Ramsey's eggs and he is mighty impressive. Can't wait to try them myself.
Stay in touch! if you get the chance, send me your email. Mine is kristalovestoday@gmail.com
      Take care! :)
